Founded in 1887 by Jean Fleischmann, Gebrüder Fleischmann initially produced toys for other brands, then under its own brand name from 1898, in particular boats, in which it became a specialist. In 1929, Fleischmann took over Georg Leonhard Staudt’s stock and moulds, and in 1933 took over Bing’s boat division. In 1938, Fleischmann acquired Doll & Co, a company specialising in trains. From 1940 onwards, the company concentrated on train production. The factory was destroyed during the war, but production resumed in 1948, mainly with electric trains, first in O scale and then in HO scale. The company still exists today.
